What Does Ultherapy® Treat?

How Does Ultherapy® Work?
Ultherapy is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin on the brow, neck, under the chin and on the chest.
It is the only FDA-approved procedure to lift skin on these hard-to-treat areas, using the energy of ultrasound to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin without disturbing the surface of the skin.
Can Ultherapy® Be Combined with Other Treatments?
Dr. Callahan uses Ultherapy treatments in combination with other treatments to amplify its results. She calls this principle “1 + 1 = 3.” If you have a visible wrinkle line, crease or groove, an injectable dermal filler will help. But those wrinkles mean that your skin has lost its firmness, thickness and elasticity and needs to be restored first. Ultherapy is the ideal solution. Here are some examples of how we can enhance filler results:
- Hard V-shaped lip lines can be softened to a soft U-shape with Ultherapy and filler. This leads to a smoother look once the filler is injected.
- Ultherapy can be used to reduce the thickness of the high side of nasolabial folds, glabella lines, and marionette lines, reducing them to soft, shallow grooves.
- Crow’s feet can be softened by flattening the high ridges and firming the low areas of the creases.

How Long Does Ultherapy® Treatment Take?
Ultherapy for the full face and neck can take about 60-90 minutes. There is no pretreatment necessary and there is generally no downtime afterward. In some patients, there can be a sensation as the energy is being delivered, but it’s temporary and well tolerated. Ultherapy results can be seen gradually over a few months and continue to improve. The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment.
When Will I See Results?
After treatment your skin may be warm and pink for a few hours, like a mild sunburn, but there is typically no downtime. Results will vary.
Although some patients may see immediate improvement, results of Ultherapy treatment are usually apparent within 2 to 3 months, during which old collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. You can expect to see the full results within 6 months of treatment.
While most patients only need one treatment, those with significant issues may require more. It is possible for results to last up to a year.
